A licensed therapist shall perform only those professional services for which they are qualified by training, education, and supervised experience. A licensed therapist shall recognize the boundaries of their particular competencies and the limitations of their expertise, provide only those services, and use the techniques for which they are qualified by education, training, or experience.

Before scheduling an appointment, be sure that your therapist is trained and qualified to understand and help with your unique mental health needs or pre-existing diagnoses. You should know beforehand if your provider isn't sufficiently trained or experienced to help with the issues you seek to mediate. Cornwall Counseling offers short-term and longer-term counseling for individuals experiencing a crisis, hardship, or troubling event while working with other healthcare providers to ensure that all your continuing physical and emotional healthcare needs are met.

Cornwall Counseling is established on a collaborative community philosophy, a systematic strategy for treating behavioral health conditions by integrating other community-based care managers and behavioral health consultants. While helping to improve emotional well-being, our assessments may also help you connect with other community resources.

We do not prescribe medication. Our primary focus is treating stress, anxiety, and depressed mood using talking therapies, particularly from a bio-psycho-social perspective. Our practice orientation is in Rational Emotive Behavior and Emotional Intelligence theories. If we believe, after meeting you and discussing your treatment plan, that you may benefit from an additional psychiatric assessment (including medication and medication management), we will make a referral for an evaluation.

Although we provide several individualized behavioral health assessments, Cornwall Counseling provides no psychological testing.

Cornwall Counseling accepts most commercial insurance (state / employer-offered), Medicaid, and employee assistance plans.
