Our Approach to Emotional Wellness

You are more than the emotion you are experiencing.

I will help you look beneath emotional labels to understand the perceptions, predictions, beliefs, and demands giving an experience its meaning. The goal is not to judge an emotion or simply make it disappear. It is to understand what the emotion is communicating, determine what is accurate and useful, and create room for a more deliberate response.

My sessions are active, here-and-now, educational, and solution-focused. I explain the ideas behind the work in accessible language, invite honest examination of conclusions that may create unnecessary suffering, and work with you to practice choices that better reflect your values and goals.

What Informs Our Care Model

01

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy

REBT explores how beliefs and interpretations shape emotional consequences. Clients learn to question rigid “musts,” “shoulds,” and catastrophic conclusions, replacing them with views that are more accurate, flexible, and workable.

02

Emotional Intelligence

Emotions are treated as meaningful information rather than fixed identities. The work strengthens the ability to recognize, understand, express, and regulate emotion while responding effectively to the emotions of others.

03

Mindfulness

Mindfulness creates a pause between an internal experience and an automatic reaction. Clients practice observing thoughts, sensations, and emotions with greater clarity, curiosity, and self-acceptance.

04

Biopsychosocial Perspective

Emotional well-being is understood in the context of physical health, psychological patterns, relationships, culture, environment, and life circumstances. Care considers how these influences interact rather than reducing a person to a diagnosis.

05

Education into Action

Insight becomes useful when it can be practiced. Sessions connect understanding with concrete skills, behavioral choices, and realistic next steps that clients can carry into daily life.

Choose yourself.
Choose imperfection.
Choose courage.

A knowledgeable coach—and an active collaborator.

My education and training span general psychology, health psychology and behavioral medicine, clinical counseling, and clinical social work. This breadth allows me to understand emotional concerns from several connected perspectives: your thoughts and behavior, physical health, relationships, environment, and the larger systems affecting your daily life.

Across more than three decades of behavioral-health and public-service work, my experience has included private mental healthcare, child mental health, clinical education and supervision, and work within social, legal, and medical systems. I bring that experience into coaching without losing sight of you as an individual and the goals that brought you here.

My role as a coach is collaborative and practical. I offer clear explanations, ask direct but respectful questions, and help you distinguish between what happened, what you concluded, and what remains within your influence. The purpose is not perfect thinking or the absence of difficult emotion; it is greater awareness, flexibility, self-acceptance, and the ability to make intentional choices.
